Mineral Visions product managers will work with your installers and architects to ensure that FlexSand Action meets your specific application needs. What are the application rates for FlexSand Action compared to traditional crumb rubber? — There are a number of factors that contribute to FlexSand’s application rate, including turf height, turf density, and desired GMax for shock absorption. On a typical synthetic athletic field with a 2 inch fiber height, the suggested FlexSand application rate is 6-7 lbs. per square foot. Please consult with your installer or a Mineral Visions representative to discuss the application rates for your specific project. Keep in mind that FlexSand Action is both quartz sand and elastomer. A proper comparison should be made to both crumb rubber and sand. What does it mean that FlexSand Action uses an FDA approved elastomer? — One of the elastomers used is approved by the FDA for use with fresh cut produce, meats, and cheeses. It is also used for personal hygiene products as well.
Is the elastomer coating going to wear off over time?
— The elastomer coating used on FlexSand products is thermally bonded to the quartz. Extensive wear and abrasion tests have proven the product’s outstanding durability and reliability.
